Tannery Arts
- Tannery Arts
  Tannery Arts is a small, independent charity concerned with supporting the professional development of emerging and established artists through the provision of affordable studios, promoting their practice through opportunities to exhibit work, develop projects, generate partnerships with local authorities, private property owners and social housing organisations as well as engage in learning activities.

ROCK PAPER SCISSORS puts children at the centre and explores with them, their teachers, schools and families, what drawing can be.

Drawing in its simplest form – leaving a mark on a surface – is direct and instinctive. Through a wide range of projects in and out of school, ROCK PAPER SCISSORS spans different structures within children’s lives and works to expand the potential of drawing within primary education.

Each year of the programme is led by a dynamic circle of artists who develop their personal practice through workshop experimentation and artist forum gatherings, making the projects mutually beneficial to all.

AFTERSCHOOL CLUB

Weekly afterschool sessions give children a chance to explore their creativity alongside artists, in a playful environment independent from school and family.

IN-SCHOOL PROJECTS

By bringing teachers and artists together as collaborators, the in-school projects unfold over a term, using imaginative uses of drawing within the classroom setting.

TEACHERS’ ASSEMBLIES

Primary school staff gather to learn and reflect through practical activities and discussion, exploring how drawing can be used as a pedagogical tool.

FAMILY STUDIO

Weekend drop-in events create a space for everyone in the family to experiment with playful drawing techniques, in a studio-like environment. All free, all welcome!

ARTIST FORUM

These get-togethers allow lead artists and workshop assistants to discuss ideas, share skills and reflect.

ACTIVITY SHEETS

Weekly artist-led activity sheets were published over the lockdown period sharing drawing activities suitable for the home.

PUBLICATION

A book will be printed and distributed to all London primary schools, disseminating knowledge, ideas and images from across ROCK PAPER SCISSORS.
